Abner! Chet Lauck and Norris Goff were born in Arkansas and grew up together. They were both comedians and were known as local "Amos and Andy" imitators. It was at a local charity program in Hot Springs, Arkansas that they first appeared as Lum and Abner. On July 27, 1931 "Lum &Abner" made its' national radio debut on the NBC radio network from Chicago. By 1933 they had introduced the "Jot "Em Down Store" to their audiences and this would become the focal point of most of the programs. The program continued, with various sponsors and on several networks for nearly 25 years. This collection features the 15 minute serial version of the show, written and performed with a quiet homespun humor, no audience and a few simple sound effects. Lum And Abner's unassuming comedy is infectious, habit forming and has delighted listeners for over 75 years |
