Dr. Christian Meets The Women
Starring: Jean Hersholt &Veda Ann Borg Directed by: William McGann Screenplay by: Marion Orth

A phony professor comes to town promoting a "miracle" diet pill that has dire side affects.
The Dr. Christian radio show, co-created by star Jean Hersholt, captivated audiences from 1937 to 1953 and spurred six independently produced motion pictures. In the third installment of these cinematic time capsules, Dr. Christian Meets The Women, the hometown physician confronts the unique and timeless American obsession with dieting. Disreputable but smooth-talking Professor Kenneth Parker steamrolls into the town of River's End with a weight loss program that promises dangerously unrealistic results in a dramatically short period of time. Steadfast Dr. Christian warns the townswomen, but they regard his advice as professional jealousy from a stodgy old general practitioner and hypnotically embrace Professor Parker's poisonous plan. Soon the women find themselves sick and in failing health due to their new diet regimen. The men folk of River's End rally against Parker's design for living and it's up to the noble Dr. Christian to come to the rescue with a real plan for a balanced diet.

Dr. Christian Melody For Three
Starring: Fay Wray &Jean Hersholt Music by: C. Bakaleinikoff Cinematography by: John Alton Directed by: Erle C. Kenton Screenplay by: Lee Leob &Walter Ferris

Fay Wray is Mary Stanley, a divorced small town music teacher and single mother, who is raising her violin protégé son, Billy (Schuyler Standish), in the small town of River's End. The boy practices relentlessly and with a passion that leads everyone in the bucolic hamlet to anticipate Billy's eventual success as a world-class musician. Unofficial town father, Dr. Paul Christian (Jean Hersholt), takes an interest in the boy when he sees an opportunity to reunite Mary with Billy's estranged conductor father, Antoine Pirelle (Walter Woolf King) and impart some sage wisdom on the value of family unity. John Alton, the brilliant cinematographer who greatly expanded the lexicon of film noir in his later work with director Anthony Mann, brings a complex psychological intensity to the images of Melody For Three. He elevates the greatly beloved Dr. Christian series to a genuine slice of small town Americana that is as potent as a William Saroyan play or a Norman Rockwell painting.

Dr. Kildare's Strange Case

This is the fourth installment of the successful MGM "Dr. Kildare" series featuring young Dr. Kildare (Lew Ayres) and his mentor, the crusty Dr. Gillespie (played by Lionel Barrymore).
Starring: Lew Ayres, Lionel Barrymore & Laraine Day Directed by: Harold S. Bucquet Screenplay by: Harry Ruskin & Willis Goldbeck
Dr. Kildare continues his residency at Blair General Hospital in the fourth of the 15 popular films produced by MGM. Lew Ayres stars as the young doctor and Lionel Barrymore is the cantankerous Dr. Gillespie, under whose tutelage Kildare is learning to become an accomplished doctor. Young Kildare is forced to remain silent about his feelings for nurse Mary Lamont (Laraine Day) because he is earning a pittance as a new resident and therefore deems himself an unworthy suitor. She has begun keeping company with the wealthy Doctor Gregory Lane (Shepperd Strudwick). When Doctor Lane is accused of incompetence after an unsuccessful surgery leaves a patient inexplicably insane, Kildare rallies to the surgeon's aid in an attempt to clear his name. Doctor Kildare pulls out all of the stops in an attempt to solve the baffling case, exonerate his associate and win the girl.
